And how it all started……..
As I’ve done these past few months, I’ve shared our family with you. We’ve introduced you to all the kids and their families – I guess it’s time to share how it all started.
Marc and I will be celebrating 38 years of marriage this October. That’s 38 looong, wait, WONDERFUL years! We are both born and raised right here in Lodi – we’ve not gone far from home. Marc has farmed grapes, walnuts and cherries for the his family for the past 50+ years. I just finished my career with The Board of Supervisors, working as Chief of Staff for three different San Joaquin County Supervisors. We have been blessed with great careers that we both love.
My life with this farmer has been a journey! For the first few years, we “planted”. We planted goals and dreams, we sowed seeds of our faith, and we began the growth of our family.
As years went on, we “tended”. We cultivated our friendships, we watched over our flock, and we took care to till our field of dreams.
And now, we are enjoying “the harvest”. Our dreams have ripened, our family has matured and produced beautiful additions, and our faith has developed deep roots.
We are thankful for the opportunity that Twisted Barrel has given us to yield another harvest of wonderful experiences, friendships and memories!
Now let me share some of what is going on at the winery this month. This coming Friday, July 7, will be another Firepit Friday! My dad’s peach tree is loaded with fruit and we’ll be serving some homemade peach cobbler for anyone stopping by. We’ll be hanging out from 5:30-8:30 p.m.
July 22, 1-4 pm, will be our third wine club pick-up party of the year! Wow, how time is flying by! This pickup will feature our new 2022 Albarino, 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon and our quintessential 2018 Zinfandel. Our very own wine club member, JP Burden, will be shaking things up a bit with his famous DJ services for our entertainment and the burgers and family-recipe beans will be back by popular demand! It’s going to be an amazing day – plan ahead so you don’t miss out on the fun!
Lastly, the weekend of July 29 and 30 is going to be a special experience here in the tasting room. Wine club members Dawn and Norm Worthen will be hosting the room on Saturday, July 29 while our family enjoys a wedding shower for Brock and Megan. We appreciate Dawn and Norm volunteering to serve! Then on Sunday, July 30, local celebrity Maxine Tanner will be returning to her old digs to help out while we are away at a family reunion. I swear the tasting room appears just a little brighter when Maxine walks in! Please consider visiting while our volunteers are graciously helping us out. They will keep you entertained and appreciate your business!
As always, please know how much we appreciate your support of Twisted Barrel Winery. We hope you can stop by sometime soon!
Cheers,
Denise Warmerdam
